Last April 11 – 12, 2016, a training and orientation was conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) at the National Fire Training Institute, Camp Vicente Lim, Canlubang, Laguna. Said activity was attended by representatives from different regions and municipalities nationwide. Kibawe Fire Station sent three (3) personnel. They were tasked primarily to drive the long – awaited fire truck for Damulog, Bukidnon. At last, the wait is over! Damulognons waited the modernly – designed Fire truck with anticipation.


With the additional knowledge and skills learned from the training and orientation, the representatives from Kibawe and Damulog, SFO1 Romeo C Seriña, Municipal Fire Marshal of Kibawe, Kibawe, Bukidnon; SFO1 Zaldy Ipanag, a resident of Damulog and is assigned at Malaybalay City Fire Station, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon; and Jiolito Sumagang, an experienced driver/operator from the Local Government Unit of Damulog, Bukidnon, were ready to drive the fire truck to its destination. An unfinished transaction between the manufacturer and the Bureau of Fire Protection caused a delay in the turnover of said facilities to the recipients. While waiting for the transaction to be resolved, the trainees stayed at the National Fire Training Institute for a week. By the 17th of April, 2016, the Fire Truck for the Municipality of Damulog started its travel by land. They arrived safe and sound at Kibawe Fire Station, Kibawe, Bukidnon on April 21, 2016 more or less 11:00 o’clock in   the morning.

On the same date, the blessing of fire truck and turnover ceremony was also scheduled. The ceremony was held at Damulog Municipal Plaza, Poblacion, Damulog, Bukidnon at 1:00 o’clock in the afternoon. All personnel from Kibawe Fire Station actively participated the program. People of Damulog were very excited in seeing the new Fire Truck. Unexpectedly, Honorable Romeo P. Tiongco, Municipal Mayor of the Municipality of Damulog, together with the Sangguniang Bayan Members and LGU employees welcomed us thru a motorcade along Barangay Sampagar, Damulog, Bukidnon public highway, a few kilometers away from Damulog Municipal Plaza, Poblacion, Damulog, Bukidnon. Along the way, the Damulognons were waited enthusiastically. They watched the Fire Truck with happiness and pride seen in their faces.

The ceremony started with an opening program. Honorable Romeo P. Tiongco, Damulog Municipal Mayor expressed his thoughts and feelings about the long – awaited fire truck for him symbolizes security and protection of lives and properties especially for the people of Damulog. SFO1 Romeo C Seriña, Kibawe Municipal Fire Marshal, emotionally shared their experiences in commandeering the vehicle. As the Municipal Fire Marshal, he showed patience and perseverance just to bring the fire truck to the cluster of Damulog. Despite of the circumstances they encountered, he said. The Local Government Unit of Damulog and the Bureau of Fire Protection represented by the Kibawe Fire Station personnel expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation.

After the program, selected Firemen showed and performed the newly arrived modern-designed fire truck of its capacity, variety of accessories, durable emergency toolkits and high powered – water pumps. People present were privileged to have a glimpse of its complexity. That for once in their lifetime they had just personally seen the beauty of a-life-and-property-protecting fire truck.

Afterwards, Fr. Bernard T. Saburao, DCM, Parish Priest of Holy Rosary Parish, Damulog, Bukidnon officiated the blessing.  damulog 5

The ceremony ended with smiles and pictorials with the Municipal Mayor of Damulog together with the priest and firemen.
